Everyone snacks, right? My 14-year-old, Kayson, likes to have a little something mid-morning and mid-afternoon. She loves Larabars and I love that she loves those since the ingredients come straight from nature. For example, these Apple Pie Larabars have 6 simple ingredients — dates, almonds, unsweetened apples, walnuts, raisins, and cinnamon. That’s it! (my personal fave is the Cashew Cookie which only contains dates and cashews) 😊
One thing I try to have on hand for snacks is fruit jars. Kellie actually gave me the idea several months ago and I thought she was a freaking genius. She said she got the idea from Pinterest and that she’d been doing it for a week or two with great results. Kayson has friends over pretty regularly and, as a homeschooling family, we are very often on the go. (homeschoolers are rarely home lol) The fruit jars are perfect for us. I make them on Sundays and Thursdays and Kayson and her friends eat them up! They are easy to grab when we are walking out the door and they fit in the car cupholders….Bonus! 🌟
There really is no recipe for these. I make them with whatever I have on hand or whatever my grocer has on sale for the week. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, watermelon, pineapple, grapes, raspberries….Pretty much any fruit of your choice. Be sure to fill them all the way to the top…That will help them last for days! The jars are great for snacks, breakfasts, and desserts. I use the Wide-Mouth 16oz Jars and I use the Plastic Lids because I feel like they are just easier to store, clean, and take care of. The great thing about the jars and lids is that once you have made the investment, you can use them for sooo many things. 🙌🏼
